Handgun Retention, Disarming, & Survival Control Tactics
Through lecture, hands on instruction and active class participation, the officer will be instructed on the dynamics of attacks, and appropriate and reasonable force options.
Students will learn proper techniques of subject control, defensive counter measures, weapons retention, counters to ground assaults, disarming tactics, multiple attacker retention drills, defense against weapon attacks and disengagement techniques. Also, introduced is a new and practical close quarter application designed for patrol, narcotics and intelligence officers that can be used inside a car or any confined environment. The student will learn how each tactic is applied while taking in to consideration the totality of the circumstances. The students will be able to identify the legal justification for tactics used.
