Shooting Incident Reconstruction-Introduction
This school is designed for officers, investigators, criminalists, firearms examiners and others with little to no experience in the investigation of shooting incidents. A review of basic firearms- related topics is given to insure all participants have a fundamental understanding of the principles necessary to conduct a proper investigation / reconstruction of a shooting incident. Students are introduced to the tools, equipment and techniques that are used in the reconstruction of a shooting incident. Techniques introduced during lectures are further developed through extensive use of hands-on exercises. Case studies add additional facets to the lecture topics. Students are provided with a comprehensive training manual.
Equipment needed: Students need to bring a ruler graduated in millimeters, a protractor and a calculator that has sin, cos and tan functions. No math beyond high school level is required.
