Greg MintonGreg Minton currently serves as the Chief of Police for the Leander Police Department. Greg was hired in 1995, as a Reserve Police officer, and has spent his entire 22-year law enforcement career with the City of Leander. Over the past 22 years, Greg has promoted through the ranks, serving as a Corporal, Sergeant, Lieutenant, Captain, Assistant Chief and was appointed as the Chief of Police in 2012.

While with the Police Department, Chief Minton has overseen many of the departmentís divisions and programs including, patrol, support services, criminal investigations, community services, animal services, the CALEA (The Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement) program, the school resource officer program, Regional SWAT team and police administration.

Greg holds a Master Peace Officers License and has earned an Associateís Degree from Austin Community College and a Bachelorís Degree from Texas State University.

Greg is a firm believer in "Service First" and promoting community involvement with the police department.

"Two of my highest operational priorities are reducing crime and improving the quality of life for our citizens. I understand that building, cultivating and maintaining the communityís trust and developing community partnerships are the key elements in our crime reduction efforts and I am committed to the ideals of 'partnership based policing,' which can only be accomplished by developing close working relationships with our neighborhoods and businesses."

In Chief Mintonís recreational time, He enjoys driving his Jeep, and camping with his wife of 19 years, Michelle, and their two children Madison and Mason.
